Moira Salt is a mixed-race, American British artist. My work explores latent threads of power within diasporic cultures and the marginalised, agitating where identity, history, and technology intersect. I am interested in using narrative as a process to interrogate archives, using personal voices and imagination as a means for recovery. I work across installed film, sound, performance and sculpture.
My recent artworks have been exploring Black trauma and healing, using sonic storytelling, movement, and geology. My recent performance works have looked at the Black/brown mother as their direct subject, stemming from their place in the Trans-Atlantic slave trade, and possibilities of radical healing.
